To expand the production line for the new Airbus A350XWB aircraft type at the Hamburg plant, the manufacturing area was extended by one positioning and one finishing workstation.

A special lifting platform was required to improve accessibility to these new workstations. On behalf of Bilfinger MCE GmbH, NCA took over the machining, fabrication, pre-assembly, as well as the transport and commissioning of two personnel lifting platforms – so-called Moveable Platforms P10.

The 2012 Eurovision Song Contest was held in the “Baku Crystal Hall,” which we co-constructed. The inner roof realized by NCA – consisting of 2,700 metric tons of steel – is an architectural highlight and demonstrates our expertise in the construction of complex, large-span structures to be implemented on short notice.

The main roof trusses rest on two tubular columns each at a height of nearly 20 m and span a free width of 80 m – making the structure appear to literally float above the stage area. Additionally, NCA was responsible for the installation of approximately 1,500 metric tons of the external crystal facade – about 50% of the total facade area.

The project documents the trust in our company’s international experience and was completed on schedule within just 5 months on the grounds of the National Flag Square. The entire arena offers space for around 25,000 spectators.

In early 2014, we received the largest order in our company’s history to date: the Convention Center in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Approximately 6,000 metric tons of steel structures, along with extensive roof and facade construction, presented an extraordinary challenge that we successfully met with expertise and precision within just twelve months.

A particular highlight of the project was the combination of complex structural analysis, a high-quality glass facade, and sophisticated standing seam roofs within an architecturally striking building.

The project was honored with the Meetings Star Award in the “Best Convention Centers in New Europe” category in 2020.

The Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg is globally renowned as a symbol of Russian culture and artistic excellence. In an international architectural competition, Waagner-Biro Stahlbau AG was awarded the overall contract for the demanding new construction. The design by the renowned architectural firm Diamond Schmitt Architects (Canada) was selected due to its sensitive approach to the architectural heritage of St. Petersburg’s Old Town.

Commissioned by Waagner-Biro, NCA was entrusted with the implementation of numerous complex structural steelwork elements in the interior. Particularly noteworthy is the multi-story foyer with its impressive ceiling height, where several outstanding steel elements were realized.

The components realized by NCA include:
• a free-floating, cable-suspended oval staircase spanning several floors
• a 35 m long glass staircase that makes visitors appear to float between levels
• a VIP bridge for exclusive access to the gallery
• single and double-flight staircases
• various balustrades

Scope of Services:
Workshop-ready preparation of planning, fabrication, delivery, as well as fire and corrosion protection for a total of eight highly complex structural components
