Carpet Museum

The Azerbaijani carpet is an important part of the art and culture of Azerbaijan.  Carpets have already been mentioned in ancient times and since the renaissance they are also known in Europe. At the moment the important exhibition pieces of the Azerbaijani carpet-culture can be seen in the “Old” carpet museum, which is protected by the UNESCO. 

After the museum was finished the carpets were exhibited there. The new museum has the advantages of more exhibition space and perfect storage conditions. This museum was made of a 650 to steel construction and has the design of a rolled up carpet.

The exhibition spreads over 3 floors. The cafeteria was also made with the steel construction method. To build this special form of the building NCA created self-construction steel girders. Hundreds of individual parts were screwed together to create this special building.

NCA was also responsible for the fire protection coating and for the roofing with trapezoidal sheet profiles.
